The one (only?) positive thing about this tree is that the Biblical figures do not connect down to anyone outside of the Biblical era. As far as I can tell anyway. I could be wrong because, well, look at those numbers >:o If I tried to follow every line down to verify that it doesn't connect I would be working on this post for a month. You'll see below that those 104 profiles of Noam Sister are just the beginning.
None of Noam Sister's profiles are a sibling of another Noam Sister which means there are at least 46 different profiles for Seth Ben Adam and 46 for Azura Sister. Curiosity got the best of me and I checked: 195 profiles for Seth Ben Adam, 201 for Azura Sister.
The tree has over 32,000 people on it which, based on what I've seen, can probably be boiled down to less than 200 people.
Some families have a Noam Sister and a Noam Bat Azura and a Noam Bint Seth and so on but no family has 2 Noam Sisters or 2 Noam Bat Azuras or...you get the idea.
Sorry I'm running low on the snark this week. I'm just gobsmacked that this an actual tree and that I could've picked 50 other profiles on it and come up with a similar result. Sigh. Instead of snark here's more from this tree for Adam, as in Adam and Eve. Birth and Death are in Eden, Lamoille, Vermont unless otherwise stated.

Do you contact Ancestry with this information so they can attempt to get it cleaned up?
ReplyDeleteI received an alert on the message boards for a family surname a couple months ago.
They posted a cd of the book for sale over $50.00. The book is still in copywrite and can not be copied. They are in most genealogical society libraries and available through microfilm at Family Search.
This person had just signed up, had no trees and over 100 books for sale. I contacted Ancestry and they deleted this person.
However they just went to eBay and now have them for sale there.
Unfortunately this isn't against Ancestry's terms of service. You can make your tree as crazy as you want. It just can't be vulgar or offensive. I have gotten trees removed for those reasons. Some had p * nis, balls and v * gina in every name (I'm not prude, I just don't want those words to trigger ads or effect searches). That was just childish but one that I found particularly offensive had Mother Teresa married to Adolf Hitler. I reported all of those and they have been removed.
DeleteI would think eBay would have a way to report something like that. I was lucky that I downloaded an e-copy of a book (a county history) from Google when I did. Someone recently purchased/applied for the copyright. Of course if they publish it again I'll buy a copy anyway ;-)
Spamming ancestry's message boards with advertising is against the terms of service though, so ancestry pulling the message and deleting the user likely had nothing to to with whether the book was or wasn't protected by copyright...
Deletereminds me of geni.com, where I found myself linked to Thor, Mickey Mouse, Spiderman, and Joseph of Aramathea, like it or not..... At least on ancestry.com one has the option of totally ignoring this kind of junk.
